5 Things You Can't Leave Out of Your Gym Bag |

We all go to the gym with good intentions at improving our fitness training efforts. But when you go, are you equipped the right way? Are you setting yourself up for fitness training failure or fitness training success? Here are 5 things that I believe everyone should have in their gym bag in order to be successful in their fitness training:
1. Bottle of Water - water plays such and important role in the transportation of nutrients, lubrication of joints, and general well-being. During an intense fitness training routine you will lose valuable ounces of water that need to be replaced. Think about it, your muscles are comprised mostly of water...in order to get the benefit of what you are trying to accomplish during your fitness training, you will have to replace the lost water.
2. A Good Pair of Shoes - Whether you are doing cardio or lifting weights you shoes are your base, and everyone needs a solid base to stand on. Without a good pair of shoes you can suffer from kneed pain, hip pain, and most commonly lower back pain. Spend the extra $20 to get a supportive pair of shoes.
3. Moisture Wicking Clothing - Most of the athletic clothing manufacturers make them these days. They are made of a light weight material and when saturated with sweat, they dry quickly...thus keeping your body cooler. They work particularly well for those of you doing cardio, but I would recommend this type of clothing for any activity involved in fitness training.
4. Heart Rate Monitor - If you don't have one, get one. Depending on your goal will determine the use of the monitor and it is a much longer explanation that I can post here. Essentially, everyday your body goes through productivity highs and lows based on a number of factors - what you ate, hydration level, fitness training routine, hours of sleep, levels of stress, etc. Your heart rate is directly affected by each of these. Without highly sophisticated equipment you would never be able to determine the right zone to do your fitness training for your goals...until the dawn of the heart rate monitor. If you have additional questions about heart rate training, contact my business partner Matt at matt@perfectbodysystem.com and he can help you out.
5. A PLAN! - Yes, a plan. Most people fail to bring a plan to the gym with them. Good intentions will only get you so far, but truly successful people have a plan. I suggest getting on a plan much like what we offer at PerfectBodySystem.com - make sure your plan has a fitness training routine with descriptions and ideally pictures of exercises that you can print and take with you to the gym. Don't be the person who goes into the gym, stares at the equipment, and says "Now What?"
