In The End, is "The Biggest Loser" a Winner or Loser? |

"The Biggest Loser" is a phenomenon, and has probably spawned many people to start fitness training and concentrate harder on meal planning. With the regular TV shows, and the grass-roots "Biggest Loser" contests you see popping up all over the place, people are losing weight with this concept - But are they enjoying permanent weight loss?
I have said many times in the past that I am all for things that get people excited about fitness training or meal planning, but I have a problem with things that give a false sense of hope! "The Biggest Loser" is a TV show, and like it or not, TV shows have actors. What you see on the TV may have really happened...I am not questioning the weight loss or the exercise plans. What I am trying to say is that what you see is not always what you get!
I have been in the personal training industry for over 25 years, and I have yet to see a fitness trainer who yells and screams at their client and gets any lasting results out of them...it is not human nature to respond positively to yelling and screaming. People who don't like fitness training and meal planning are desperately seeking a way to find FUN in these activities - yelling is not fun! So if one thinks that personal training is all about yelling and screaming and constantly being serious...why would you hire a trainer??? Results, right?
Fine, RESULTS is a fair answer...but I don't know too many people who can afford to be held in a "compound" with a trainer designing exercise plans and doing your meal planning for you. I can assure you, trainers are constantly trying to figure out how to make fitness training fun (all of the ones I've known!!)...so if you need to lose weight, just set realistic expectations for yourself and your trainer.
